Spring Training

Though looking outside on this cold, snowy day in New York, you would not believe Spring training to be in reach. However, for the Dowling College Women's Rowing team it is! On Saturday March 7th, they will be flying down to Florida to begin their water practices in pursuit of winning the NCAA competition this May. Though we have experienced some warmer days with temperatures in the 50's and been able to get on the water, we have not have enough water practices to really get us moving.

For the past 3 years, to keep up with our rivals in sunny California, whom get to practice on the water as soon as they are allowed to as per NCAA regulations, Dowling College has sent their Women's Rowing team to Florida to be able to practice on the water as well, since in New York, we can not row on a river with a top layer of ice, although, we've tried.
So from March 7th through the 14th we will be practicing 2 - 3 times per day rowing over 50k in hopes of winning the championship. The last 2 years in a row Dowling has placed 3rd. This year, is their year, everyone else in Division II, please watch out, you're in for quite a challenge!
